Trevor Ivey has 13 years of K-12 and higher education experience as a Title I teacher who pushed students to achieve unprecedented levels of academic and personal growth. He has also served as principal and assistant principal of Willow Drive Elementary, Alice Drive Middle, as a director of Teacher Recruitment and Retention for Sumter School District, and district ADEPT 4.0 and SLO trainer. This Top Teacher — locally and for the state — led 46 teachers to pursue National Board Certification and organized the STEM Professional Learning Community: 10 schools working to obtain the AdvancED STEM Certification.

​A public school graduate, Trevor holds education degrees from the University of South Carolina, South Carolina State University and Harvard University and is National Board Certified. His dissertation focused on measuring STEM literacy by assessing changes over time in students’ knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions. He serves on the USC Alumni Association Council, Central Carolina Technical College Foundation Board and is an Evening Optimist. He serves on the state’s School Improvement Council and completed the SC Education Policy Fellowship. His research interests include teacher quality, educational policy, STEM education, and family engagement.

Entering his 15th year in public education, Mr. Montgomery brings a wealth of experiences from Title I schools as a former elementary school teacher, instructional coach, & assistant principal. Currently, Mr. Montgomery is the principal of Hemingway Elementary School in Williamsburg County School District. 

​

He joined the Williamsburg County School District in 2017, where he served as the assistant principal at Kenneth Gardner Elementary School and as an instructional coach at Greeleyville Elementary School. He is a graduate of Clemson University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in Athletic Leadership. He received his Master’s Degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Southern Wesleyan University. Mr. Montgomery is a native of Greeleyville, South Carolina. He is a member of the Epsilon Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated and a member of the nationally acclaimed “Call Me MiSTER” Program founded by Clemson University.

When asked why he chose to seek out this opportunity, he says, “I chose this professional opportunity as the Director of Liberty STEAM Charter School’s Primary Academy because its innovative approach aligns with my belief in holistic education.” He also shared, “As a hands-on administrator, I value the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families, fostering a supportive learning environment and, at LSC, I see the opportunity to cultivate a community where every child's academic, social, and emotional needs are prioritized.”

Mr. Montgomery also states, “I'm excited to collaborate with a dedicated team to implement dynamic educational strategies that nurture students' curiosity and creativity. Together, we will empower young minds to excel academically while also developing the essential skills and qualities they need to thrive in the ever-changing world beyond the classroom.” On a personal note, Mr. Montgomery enjoys hunting, fishing, and watching sports in his spare time.

Gifford Shaw

Gifford Shaw is passionate about business and has spent the majority of his career in the building-related business. His career in the building industry has afforded me valuable relationships and networking. Gifford has had the unique opportunity to be mentored by many who have guided his development to communicate a vision, to network and develop relationships, to support a business with good systems and to think strategically.

 

He enjoys building a business and seeing the opportunity that it can provide for people and families. Gifford earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977 from Clemson where he majored in Accounting. He is married to Marian Langston Shaw and, together, they have three children and six grandchildren.
