Wreaths Across America Fall 2022 PTO Fundraiser What: Pay $15 to sponsor a wreath to be laid on a local veteran's grave - Click Here How LSC Benefits: The PTO will receive $5 for each wreath sponsored. Service Learning Component: Families can meet on December 17 at 12 Noon to lay wreaths on the graves of local veterans at Sumter Cemetery. Challenge: Each LSC family is asked to get friends/families to sponsor 5 wreaths. Scholars should bring in their sponsorship sheets on Friday, November 17 for a chance to earn various prizes. All scholars who meet the PTO challenge will receive a prize, but we will also recognize top sellers too! We're excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our staff, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school. Here's what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from September 19-23 in the Eagle Cafe. It will be open daily from 8:15-10:30 a.m. and again from 1:30-2:30 p.m. While parents are not allowed to take their scholars out of class for shopping, you will have the special opportunity to shop during the Open House on September 20 and 22 from 4:30-6 p.m. or on Friday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Our Book Fair also offers eWallet, a safe and secure alternative to cash. Simply create a free account to add funds and/or invite family and friends to contribute so your child can select their own books. Any unused funds can be spent at The Scholastic Store Online or to fund a future eWallet. We have found this resource to be highly useful. If you can't make it to the Fair, then shop at our school's Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school. If you would like to volunteer during the book fair, please contact Ms. Anderson in the front office (803-774-0191) to add your name and availability to the list. At LSC, we believe feedback is a gift. We only get better as an organization by listening to and acting upon feedback from those we serve. Thank you for what can be arguably be considered the most successful first year of any public charter school in South Carolina and that is because of you! In this newsletter, we will reflect on the many memories we created together and exciting events that were held that we can fondly look back on in the years to come. Our year ended with wonderful award ceremonies filled with pride and celebration of scholar accomplishments. We are very proud of all of our students and their successes. We are excited to host an in-person back-to-school celebration to officially kick off the 2022-23 school year and welcome our 330 families! On Thursday, August 4, between 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., families are expected to “drop-in” to this back-to-school event designed to give you all the information you'll need to ensure your scholar is prepared and has a smooth first day of school on Monday, August 8. So that we can have an accurate count of family participation and stagger arrivals for parking purposes, participants are asked to reserve ONE spot per family of four individuals using this Calendly link. Please select your arrival time from one of the 45-minute increments during the 10 am- 2 pm scheduled time. We ask that you honor the arrival time you select on this reservation form. Also, you are welcome to stay as long as you like. Families are also strongly encouraged to bring their scholar’s class supplies bagged and tagged with their name to this event. Each grade level supply list is now posted on our social media platforms and the academy page of the LSC website. Also, don't forget that LSC is a uniform-based school.
